While there are dark and supernatural elements to the game, the setting is very similar to 1930’s dustbowl America. The people are suffering similar hardships, the landscape is the same, there are the same limitations placed on technology.
What Sorts of Supernatural Elements?
There will be inhuman beasts, mostly wolflike animals, that are attracted to the dust storms. Sometimes they’ll arrive a week after the storm, sometimes they’ll arrive right on the tail of the storm. They’re unpredictable. They can and will cause injury to characters. There will be others that show up, too. I’ll keep a bestiary.
My Character Was Injured/Got Sick/Died!
If sick or injured, you’ll be taken care of by a medic. We have those, too! If they die, well, they might be surprised to find themselves showing up in the next dust storm, coming back to the carnival in prime form.
Are Characters Provided With Housing?
Yes! Depending on the character’s job, they will be given a spot in a housecar or trailer. The “stars” of the show like the Magician and their Assistant will be given a trailer to share. Those who operate the rides will share housecars. Get the picture?
Will I Get To Choose My Character’s Job?
You can, or you can leave it up to the mods if you’re indecisive. Try to keep the character’s physique and age in mind when choosing a job. Mr. Fantastic would not have a minor do the kootch show. He would only choose someone with an oddity for the freak show.
Wait... Mr. Fantastic Chooses The Jobs?
That's right! You can choose your character's job OOC, but the job will always have been chosen by Mr. Fantastic IC. Your character has no say in what they will be doing in the carnival.
What If My Character Has Little or No Talent? Does That Affect Their Job?
Your character will suddenly find that they have talent related to their career path, and as time passes that talent will only grow.
Is There Technology In This Game?
Yes and no. There is tech similar to the tech from the 1930’s America. There are no cell phones, computers, etc.
Are There Devices/A Network The Characters Can Use To Communicate With?
Not exactly. Characters will be given notebooks that they can write in. Whatever they write will appear in any other character’s notebook that they intend to send the message to. Just another supernatural quirk in the game.
Can Characters Leave The Carnival Grounds?
Yes! They can go into town, use their wages to buy things, have a meal at the local diner… Just be warned: The locals don’t take easy to carnies.
Is There A Legal System?
There’s sort of a code that you don’t mess with another carnie. If you do, you might end up with a black eye or docked pay.
What Kinds of Characters Are Allowed In This Game?
Fandom characters, original characters, AU characters, and CRAU characters are all allowed. Characters who are children are allowed. Characters who are animals are allowed. Mechanical characters should probably be discussed with a moderator, but they are allowed under the right circumstances.
Are There Caps Enforced?
There will be no character caps enforced in this game. You can play as many characters as you can handle. There can be as many characters from one fandom as will apply. NO CAPS!

Well, sort of one cap. There is a cap enforced on the number of characters you can app at one time. You can only apply for three characters at one time. This is extremely lenient and we won't budge on the number.
Is Pregnancy Allowed In This Game?
Obviously a traveling carnival in a time and place where meals are sometimes limited to grits and beans is not the ideal setting for a pregnancy. That being said, if you still want to play out a pregnancy plot, go for it!
Will My Character Be Able To Wear The Clothes They Show Up In?
No, the Boss doesn’t like that. Here it’s all about fitting in. That’s why upon arrival you’ll be given two sets of clothing. That means dresses for the ladies, pants and shirts for the men.
Is That All They’ll Be Given When They Show Up?
Heavens, NO! You poor thing, you must be shaken up from that dust storm. If you’re a woman or girl, you’ll be given a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, a lady’s razor, a hairbrush, a blanket and a small pillow. If you’re a man or a boy you’ll be given a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, a straight razor, a comb, a blanket and a small pillow. If the Hellhounds aren’t on your heels, you’ll be sat down and fed a decent meal, too. You’ll be given props, tools, and costumes for your act, once things have settled down, as well.
What’s In Town?
Well, that changes from town to town! Mods will give you an update as the carnival shows up in each new town. There might be diners, clothing shops, ice cream parlours, etc.
Can I Do a Canon Update?
Yes! Your character will vanish and show up in the next dust storm with updated knowledge of their canon.
What Will AC Be Like In This Game?
Every month there will be an activity check and one instance of activity will be required. The following will count as one instance of activity.

Yes! You can exchange a certain number of instances of activity for different items. A link to the page that will help you understand the rewards system is located in the navigation.
